European premiere for the new Hyundai Elantra

European premiere for the new Hyundai Elantra
A fifth-generation Elantra offers more style, more power, low fuel consumption, increased safety and comfort, plus Hyundai's design concept inspired by "fluid sculpture. "
Hyundai has launched in the 2011 Barcelona Motor Show, the new Elantra - the model will be available for sale in Romania, Spain and other European countries during the third quarter of this year.
Designing a more sporty and progressive than its predecessor, the new Elantra compact sedan will continue the tradition of success of this model and will offer top performance in class C and low fuel consumption, thanks to the latest technology and engines.
Elantra Five Year Programme will benefit from Triple Care, the best after sales service package in the industry, characterized by complete transparency. This program has continued to attract new customers to Hyundai vehicles, offering five years unlimited warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five years free regular technical checks.
Design Inspiration
Elantra's design philosophy is rooted in the Hyundai design called "fluid sculpture, the dynamic lines and sophisticated designs in vehicle appearance.
Elantra's design team managed to give the sedan a strong and confident image, by lowering the roof line by creating well defined wheel arches and adding full of character lines that extend from the pillars, the de- along the bonnet, up to the bar in front. Emphatically hexagonal grid belonging to the family of the Hyundai Elantra. Elegant exterior headlights complete extension.
Refined design is found inside. Silver decorative part that starts from the leading edge and center console form is characterized by a refined image that strengthens the fluid dynamics of the vehicle. Glossy black and metallic colors used on the inside adds a futuristic, high-tech, the new Elantra.
Aerodynamics
Due to the low roof line and trunk line, the new Elantra has a more sporty profile and a drag coefficient of just 0.28, which translates into less resistance to advancing and lower fuel consumption. A slightly raised roof and rear lamps carefully drawn to help air flow more easily. A wind deflector located in the middle of the floor under the car and provide a straight surface to minimize turbulence.
General Dimensions
Elantra has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, 50 mm longer than the previous generation. Its total length is 25 mm larger than the previous generation, measuring 4.530 mm, while the width remains the same: 1.775 mm. Height was lowered by 35 mm, reaching 1445 mm, without affecting the head area. The cab has been increased to 18 liters.
Motors
The new Elantra will be offered with a new petrol engine, D-Gamma 1.6-liter MPI CVVT is placed on manual and automatic transmissions with six reports.

With a lightweight aluminum structure due to engine Gamma 1.6-liter four-cylinder MPI is equipped with D-CVVT variable valve timing to get 132 hp at 6,300 rpm and allow for low emissions and fuel consumption of the lowest class. Maximum torque is 158 Nm at 4850 rpm. Gamma is equipped with a mechanical adjustment lever (Mechanical Lash Adjuster - MLA), which improves fuel consumption and rigidity, while the inertial mass of low coefficient of friction helps reduce noise and valves. The intake / exhaust improves engine performance by applying an unusual structural design, reducing the chronic problems and increasing sustainability.
Determination of Hyundai to design a highly effective vehicle continues through the use of an automatic transmission with manual control SHIFTRONIC manual transmission or a six-model Elantra.
Developed and produced entirely in the domestic, the new manual six-speed automatic gearbox is the world's first designed to be used in a midsize passenger car. New transmission gear epicyclical consists of three, two and three clutch brakes, making smaller, more compact and lighter than any other manual six-speed automatic available on the market today. Hyundai becomes one of three global car manufacturers who have their own manual six-speed automatic.

Driver comfort and safety
The new Elantra will impress a lot of advanced features. These include a system of lights that remain lit for 30 seconds after the driver leaves the car to illuminate the road, an air purification system and Batching of noxious gases by generating a cloud of ions, an automatic defroster, heated rear seats and parking assist system.
In addition, the new Elantra has a higher safety level. Along with VSM (Vehicle Stability Management System), which helps to maintain vehicle stability in critical situations and is available for the first time in this class are available ESP (Electronic Stability System) and six airbags.
