China Unicom, the second largest telecommunications company in China, launched Wophone based on Linux for its new range of smartphones.

While their system is operating Wophone of China Unicom, mobile Wophone will be produced by Motorola, Samsung, HTC, Huawei, ZTE, TCL and Sony Ericsson.

Wophone is designed to work with China Unicom WCDMA network. Wophone also works with the other two 3G mobile standard, TD-SCDMA CDMS2000 and being compatible with LTE.
Wophone as Android system will be applied to other devices, and China Unicom plans to use the tablet computer, televisions and game consoles.
