International Monetary Fund director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was indicted Sunday for sexual assault, attempted rape and kidnapping, after an incident in a hotel in New York, said his lawyer, quoted by CNN.
Strauss-Kahn, 62 years old, is in police custody on suspicion of sexually assaulting an employee at a hotel in Times Square, said deputy police commander in New York, Paul Browne.

Browne said that Strauss-Kahn came out naked from the bathroom of his apartment hotel, when an employee aged 32 years to enter the hotel room. The incident occurred Saturday around 13.00, at Hotel Sofitel in New York
The maid said he did not expect the luxury suite - which cost $ 3,000 per night - to be somebody. Browne said that Strauss-Kahn has pursued the woman in the hallway of the apartment - consists of lounge, dining room, bedroom and conference room.
She said that Strauss-Kahn has forced her to enter the bedroom and began to attack. She told investigators that he tried to defend himself, but the man pushed her into the bathroom and assaulted her.
Police said that Strauss-Kahn tried to remove the underwear, but she managed to escape and reached the reception, where staff alerted the New York Police Department.
When police arrived at the hotel, IMF director had left, leaving the hotel room phone. "He rushed (...) alleged victim was transferred to Roosevelt Hospital, where he is being treated for minor injuries, " said Browne.
Authorities learned that Strauss-Kahn is at JFK airport aboard a plane and asked the Port Authority to retain the device on the ground. Two detectives boarded the plane, "just before closing the doors" and detained him on Strauss-Kahn.
